PSTN Switch-Off

What is the PSTN switch-off?

Changes are on the way.

By the end of 2025, traditional copper phone lines will become obsolete. Known as the ISDN/PSTN switch-off, this significant change means all calls will have to be routed over the internet. The switch-off affects all businesses, no matter their size or industry which is why it’s important for you to put measures in place to ensure zero disruption to your business communications.

Why is the switch-off happening? PSTN and ISDN are outdated infrastructures, the transition over to a fully digital network is driven by the need to modernise and utilise Internet Protocol (IP). To put it simply, moving forward all calls will be routed online and you will need technology and connectivity in place to support this.

If you’re currently routing your phones through ISDN/PSTN lines, you need to switch over to routing calls via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and ensure your broadband infrastructure is able to support this.

The good news? At Louiscomm our expert team are on hand to support you and answer any questions you might have.
